Post-Graduation Update

HELLO LOVES

Columbia Graduate 2019

I have so much content drafted from last month that I was supposed to post for May but I never got to finishing up and editing the rest of my writings. It has been a crazy four weeks in — finals week, graduation, getting promoted at my current job, interviewing for my big girl job, moving out of my apartment, etc. Honestly, the list goes on and I really wasn’t prepared for the amount of emotions that came my direction. Here I am, ready catch you up on my life and ready to post more content than ever because..I actually have the TIME to set aside and never have to worry about homework for the rest of my life!! Unless I decided to go back to school and receive my Masters degree.

Well, like I said earlier I graduated from Columbia College Chicago with a BA in Fashion Business and minor in Marketing. It was the biggest relief to walk that stage and see the look of my parents faces after the ceremony. My relationship between my parents and myself has been complicated since my senior year of high school with their separation but that never stopped me from working hard for the both of them. With that being said, I graduated Summa Cum Laude! I was able to balance school, had four internship opportunities (now five), work on portfolio and collaborate with other artists, work at my part-time job (a majority of my college career was spent at Xsport). Not to toot my own horn but I worked my @$$ off these last four years of my life and I’m excited to see where my life goes post-graduation.

I’m happy to say that I made it out alive. 😂 Although, I did freak out when I found two white hairs this past year. So to catch you up on how crazy my life got the last four weeks, I ended up interviewing for a few places for a Marketing Coordinator position. My very last interview was the day before my last final. Lisa Bubes, CEO of The Curator, hired me on the spot. I have taken a part-time internship as the Marketing Intern. The Curator, is a fashion styling, tech start-up. If all goes well, I will be working full-time for her in the fall. On top of this internship, I still will be working at the Xsport Spa part-time over the summer. Yes, I am crazy and will be driving to the city every day of my life. But this is the price I pay for saving a little bit of money and moving back home to the suburbs. I plan on moving back to Chicago by January at the LATEST. Hey, I have to set myself some short term goals for myself. 🤷🏻‍♀️

If you haven’t been able to tell who/how I am as a person, I am very organized and like to plan everything out accordingly. This is the first time in my life that I don’t know what the heck is in store for me. I was a little freaked out at first but I’ve been told by my supportive family and friends that is OKAY to not know and have a plan. That’s the beauty of life. I also need to remember I am only 22-years-old and to SLOW DOWN and BREATH.

To wrap this up, I am actually writing this on my 13 hour flight to Taiwan. I’m currently on hour 10 out of 13! I don’t even know how, but I slept 10 hours on this plane. Hahaha. I guess you could say the last 7 days moving and working 12 hour days had caught up to me.  Also, a little bit wine before boarding my flight might have done the trick. 😴  I am on my way to the Philippines with my dad for a 10 day vacation. Yes, TEN DAYS of island living. I am looking forward to seeing the sun, ocean, and actually reflecting and appreciating how my life played out. There is a lot to be grateful for and I can’t thank my family and friends who were so supportive and helped shape me into the woman I am today.

Cheers to a good life and to what the future has in store for me. I will be writing up a Philippines Travel Guide throughout my trip, so stay tuned! ❤️
